There are different ways to download videos from youtube without any desktop/mobile applications.
Download videos/audio from Youtube.
Keepvid
Keepvid is a web app which allows to download videos from Youtube in a couple of formats like MPEG, MP4, AVI, 3GP etc.. Sun java has to be installed in the browser for this to work. It works well in windows systems. I have not seen it working on linux systems.
First open the Youtube video to be downloaded and paste it in space provided in keepvid.com. Then press download. The java will execute and it asks for permission to run java in the browser. Press allow/yes/ok and then it converts the video and provides links to different formats available to download.
Click on the download link of the required format to start downloading. To just download just the audio, there will a link to snipmp3 at the end of the formats.
Zamzar
Unlike keepvid this doesn't require sun java installed in the system. So it can be used with browser running in NIX based OS. With Zamzar you can upload files and download in specific formats and/or download from a url ( zamzar.com/url ).
One problem is that it cannot be downloaded directly from the browser as they will send a download link to the mail and it will take some time to download after uploading the file. Zamzar can be used for extracting MP3 also.
SnipMP3
It is like keepvid but to extract only the audio in mp3 format. It can download HQ audio also. It also require sun java plugin installed which makes it difficult to run in windows systems. It is faster than zamzar.
Youtube to MP3
It is a youtube to mp3 converter. It can convert only youtube video. But the simple interface of this page makes it easy to use in mobile phones to convert youtube videos to MP3s.
